Fairfield Prep and Cheshire are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Jesuits will face off against the Rams at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Fairfield Prep is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last ten games.
Fairfield Prep barely beat Foran the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Jesuits blew past the Lions 12-2 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Jesuits, who have now won nine contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brady Cesseratto was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cooper Rotondo, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fairfield Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Cheshire beat Hamden 6-2 on Wednesday.
Stephen Fitzmaurice spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on 11 hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cheshire saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Clarke, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Tyler Lentini was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Fairfield Prep's record is now 13-1. As for Cheshire, their record now sits at 7-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fairfield Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cheshire struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Fairfield Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Cheshire in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jesuits since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
