Softball Recap: North Laurel Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

North Laurel dropped their record down to 26-3-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Perry County Central Commodores by a score of 4-2. If the Jaguars were looking for revenge after losing 13-1 to the Commodores when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Tessa Monhollen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

As for Perry County Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

On Perry County Central's side, Jossie Mullins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. Mullins has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alyssa Dixon was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Robinson, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.

Coming up, North Laurel will head out to challenge Casey County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Perry County Central, they will host Lexington Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Commodores have won eight straight at home, while the Knights won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
