Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Perry's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

While Perry put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Saguaro. Perry walked away with a 5-0 victory over Saguaro. The Pumas have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Sabercats, too.

Lou Berg tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only six hits, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Andrew Hover was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alex Lee, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Perry hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in six consecutive contests.

Perry has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. Saguaro's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6-1.

Looking ahead, Perry will host Hamilton at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Saguaro, they will head out on the road to square off against Mesquite at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
