Softball Recap: Rogers Pirates vs. Hatton Hornets
Rogers proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 15) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Hatton Hornets 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since March 11th.
Chloe Thigpen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Lauren Nash was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Alona Davis, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Rogers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hatton only posted a batting average of .214.
Rogers' victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-14. As for Hatton, they dropped their record down to 12-21-2 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rogers will challenge Colbert County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Hatton, they will face off against Deshler at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
