Softball Recap: Whitefish Bay Drops Highest Score of Season Against Homestead

Whitefish Bay's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Homestead Highlanders 7-5. The Blue Dukes' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Abby Fay made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Fay was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, Kyla Sullivan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jane Wallace, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Whitefish Bay lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Whitefish Bay's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Homestead, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.

Coming up, Whitefish Bay will square off against Martin Luther at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Homestead, they will face off against Waukesha West at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolverines' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Highlanders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
