Section 5 Finger Lakes - West recap Sept. 26, 2012

Red Jacket moved up to 229 from 405 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 5 Finger Lakes - West. A 42-0 win over South Seneca/Romulus helped the Indians improve their standing.

Red Jacket extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Falcons, 42-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Mynderse Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brandon Passalacqua threw for 114 yards and Aaron Peterman had 39 yards receiving. On the ground Mike Millis chipped in 91 yards. Connor Miller helped Mynderse Academy's passing attack out by catching two balls for 36 yards.

Mynderse Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Blue Devils feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Passalacqua has thrown for 171 yards this season, while Miller has six catches for 66 yards. Peterman leads the league in rushing with 473 yards.

A big matchup in Section 5 Finger Lakes - West this week will be when the Indians take on the Blue Devils. At the moment, Red Jacket is in first, while Mynderse Academy is in third.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Dundee takes on Clyde-Savannah. The Scotsmen have allowed 50 points this season, while the Golden Eagles have given up 40.

Lyons was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. The Lions beat the Lions 44-13 earlier in the week.
