Preview: Rickards Raiders vs. Lincoln Trojans

The Rickards Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Lincoln Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

After a string of four wins, Rickards' good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 59-52 to Florida State University High School. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rickards in their matchups with Florida State University High School: they've now lost nine in a row.

Rickards' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Romie Cosby, who scored 16 points, and Benjamin Plummer who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Randall Pompey, who scored nine points.

Meanwhile, Lincoln waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 52-45 victory over St. John Paul II. Given Lincoln's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while St. John Paul II is ranked 369th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rickards' defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6. As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Rickards strolled past Lincoln in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 64-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rickards since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
