Basketball Recap: Wellman-Union Piles Up the Points Against Cotton Center

Wellman-Union came into Friday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past the Cotton Center Elks, posting a 69-27 win. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the defeat, Cotton Center saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nehemiah Delagarza posted 23 points. That was a full 85.2% of Cotton Center's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Wellman-Union's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-13. As for Cotton Center, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Wellman-Union has already played their next contest (against Meadow), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cotton Center didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 76-7 loss against Whitharral on the 21st.
