Baseball Game Preview: Thunder Ridge Titans vs. Hillcrest Knights

The Thunder Ridge Titans will square off against the Hillcrest Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Thunder Ridge is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They lost 22-10 to Madison.

Thunder Ridge saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Graham Webb, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Webb has become a key player for the Titans: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Easton Carling was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Hillcrest and Blackfoot meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Knights came up short against the Broncos, falling 11-1.

Hillcrest's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Thunder Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Thunder Ridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hillcrest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Thunder Ridge beat Hillcrest 13-8 in their previous matchup on Monday. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
