Escalon's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They won by a set and slipped past the Hilmar Yellowjackets 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since August 30th.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (107-93) Escalon actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 13-25, 15-25, 25-23, 15-12.

Emma Strong paced Escalon's offense, picking up 21 kills. Strong got some help from Aniston Hunt and her 48 assists. Hunt was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Escalon's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Hilmar, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-11 record this season.

Escalon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Hughson on the 9th. As for Hilmar, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Sonora on the 9th.
