Basketball Recap: Tarkington Comes Up Short

Tarkington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Hargrave Falcons, falling 54-29. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Longhorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 47-32 back in January.

Despite the loss, Tarkington saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Layla Watson dropped a double-double on 16 points and 20 rebounds. That was a full 55.2% of Tarkington's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Tarkington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Tarkington's defeat dropped their record down to 13-16. As for Hargrave, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-18.

As of now, neither Tarkington nor Hargrave have any future games scheduled.
