Baseball Recap: Homestead Picks Up Third Straight Win at Home

It's playoff time, and Homestead had no trouble coming through when it counted. They beat the Huntington North Vikings on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-3. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Ryne Michaeloff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Shane Bardwell was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Aiden Phillips, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Homestead pushed their record up to 22-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Huntington North, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-10 record this season.
