Baseball Game Preview: Scotland Fighting Scots vs. Richmond Raiders

The Scotland Fighting Scots will head out on the road to take on the Richmond Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Last Tuesday, Scotland came up short against Lee County and fell 5-2. The Fighting Scots haven't had much luck with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Richmond entered their tilt with Butler on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 2-0 win.

Jeremiah Ritter looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Landon Taylor, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Richmond pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Scotland, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

Scotland couldn't quite get it done against Richmond when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Fighting Scots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
