Softball Recap: Johnston City Comes Up Short

Johnston City was the 13-3 winner over Fairfield when they last played one another back in May of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Indians fell 7-2 to the Mules on Monday. Indians fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Mules since Monday.

Aliyna McCoy put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. McCoy was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

McCoy wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lilli Armes, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Johnston City now has a losing record of 14-15. As for Fairfield, they pushed their record up to 18-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Johnston City has already played their next game (against Frankfort), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Fairfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
