Basketball Recap: Gadsden Takes a Loss

Gadsden played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Centennial Hawks 53-23. The Panthers were down 40-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Centennial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joy Hunt, who posted eight points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Hunt has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Avellana Vigil-Villalobos, who put up nine points.

Gadsden's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Centennial, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season.

Gadsden will challenge Mayfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mayfield will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Gadsden surely won't give up without a fight. As for Centennial, they will face off against Organ Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Organ Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last six games.
