Basketball Recap: Hudson Takes a Loss

Hudson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Weeki Wachee Hornets, falling 61-20. The Cobras were probably out for revenge after losing 78-23 to them when the teams met back in February, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Layla Richardson and Sydniemarie Johnson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Richardson posted six points, while Johnson put up six points.

Weeki Wachee found their leader in sophomore Joelys Rodriquez, who earned 20 points along with eight assists and eight steals. The game was Rodriquez's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayana Coleman, who had eight points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Hudson's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Weeki Wachee, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Hudson will welcome Angeline Academy of Innovation at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hudson is facing Angeline Academy of Innovation at the right time seeing as Angeline Academy of Innovation is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Weeki Wachee, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-38 win against Citrus on the 10th.
