Basketball Recap: Fort Bend Dulles' Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Fort Bend Dulles needed a changed in momentum after dropping six straight games and they got it from Laylah Thornton. The Fort Bend Dulles Vikings sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-36 victory over the Fort Bend Clements Rangers on Saturday thanks in part to Thornton, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 21 boards. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Gissele Reyes, who posted seven points and four steals. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Fort Bend Dulles' win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-22. As for Fort Bend Clements, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-18.

Fort Bend Dulles and Fort Bend Clements could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Fort Bend Dulles (ranked 980th) will meet Fort Bend Hightower (ranked 54th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Fort Bend Clements will challenge Fort Bend Austin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 965 places (1173 vs. 208).
