Volleyball Recap: Arlington Takes a Loss

If Arlington was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Arcadia on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Red Devils fell just short of the Liberty-Benton Eagles by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost nine in a row.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Arlington sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-16, 20-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-9.

Callie Hartman paced Arlington's offense, picking up 15 kills. Hartman got some help from Ellie Marquart and her 36 assists. Marquart was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Liberty-Benton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Evelyn Ricker out in front who had ten digs.

Arlington now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Liberty-Benton, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2.

Coming up, Arlington will face off against Vanlue at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Liberty-Benton, they will take on Perrysburg at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
