Softball Recap: Portland Highlanders vs. Westbrook Knights
Portland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Westbrook Knights. If the Highlanders were looking for revenge after losing 1-0 to the Knights when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Kaelin Mullin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits.
At the plate, Portland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Royea, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
