Softball Recap: Grainger Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cocke County, Grainger was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Claiborne Bulldogs. The win continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

McKenna Kee was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and two runs. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of McKinley Mills, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Grainger always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Grainger pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Claiborne, they moved to 4-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grainger will square off against Greeneville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Greeneville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season. As for Claiborne, they will face off against Volunteer at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Volunteer will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Claiborne surely won't give up without a fight.
