Softball Recap: Cincinnatus Central Continues Road Dominance on Monday

Cincinnatus Central came out on top against Brookfield Central on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Lions were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Beavers. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won four contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Nev Billings made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucy Finch, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Hanna Ellerson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Cincinnatus Central pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Brookfield Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Cincinnatus Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brookfield Central, they will take on Waterville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
