Football Recap: Century Centurions vs. Savanna Rebels
If Century was feeling good fresh off their 31-0 takedown of Magnolia last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Century Centurions lost 44-20 to the Savanna Rebels on Friday. The Centurions haven't had much luck with the Rebels recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Daniel Joya rushed for 49 yards, and also threw for 106 yards on eight of 15 attempts.
Anthony Guerrero was his top target, picking up 31 receiving yards.
Savanna had a senior duo take command as Diego Perez rushed for 122 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries and Jake Dorsi rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Dorsi's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 101 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Century's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Savanna, they moved to 2-7 with that victory, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Century will take on Saddleback at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Saddleback will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Century surely won't give up without a fight. As for Savanna, they will square off against Godinez Fundamental at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
