Basketball Recap: Rauner Comes Up Short

Rauner won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They took a blow against the Butler Lynx, falling 84-19. The match marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Jamal Small was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine steals for Butler. Small is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last 12 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Julius Hamlin Jr, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Rauner's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Butler, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Rauner will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Rowe-Clark at 7:00 p.m. As for Butler, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Julian at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Averaging 59.6 points so far this season, Butler's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Julian better be ready for a challenge.
