Baseball Recap: Granger Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hunter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Granger). They blew past the Hunter Wolverines 17-3 on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lancers with their most commanding win of the season.

Raniero Gonzalez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Gonzalez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Granger got a massive performance out of Max Pace, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave Pace a new career-high. Anthony Spicer was another key player, going 3-for-6 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Granger kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Granger's record is now 6-12. As for Hunter, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-17.

Looking ahead, Granger will welcome West Jordan at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season. As for Hunter, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Murray at 3:30 p.m. on the 29th.
