Basketball Recap: Saint James Falls Short Against Ranked Sidwell Friends

Saint James is ranked highly in their home state and on Tuesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Sidwell Friends. The Saint James Saints came up short against the Sidwell Friends Quakers, falling 49-23. The match marked the Saints' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Saint James had strong showings from Jayden Yates, who posted 13 points, and William Taffe, who had two points. That was a full 56.5% of Saint James' points, marking the fourth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Jalen Rougier-Roane was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 11 en route to 17 points for Sidwell Friends. With that strong performance, Rougier-Roane is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Caden Williams also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Saint James' defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Sidwell Friends, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Maret the next time they take the court. Saint James will host Maret at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Sidwell Friends will head out to face them at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
