Iola entered their tilt with Burton on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 2-0. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Panthers on August 12th, they had to take a 2-1 loss.

Iola's win bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Burton, they moved to 20-7 with that defeat, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Iola and Burton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Bulldogs (ranked 114th) will meet Coldspring-Oakhurst (ranked 694th) at 6:00 p.m. on September 9. Meanwhile, Burton will square off against Weimar at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (162 vs. 438).
