Softball Recap: Eastern Vikings vs. Cherokee Chiefs

Eastern had lost seven straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-14 to make it eight. They came up short against the Cherokee Chiefs, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chiefs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in April.

As for Cherokee, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Cherokee's part, Cali Taylor made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Taylor has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Mollee Jacobus was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three runs. Luci Dandrea was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Eastern does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cherokee, they will host Burlington Township at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chiefs are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
