Basketball Game Preview: Waterford Wildcats vs. Caldwell Redskins

Waterford and Caldwell are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Waterford Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Caldwell Redskins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when Waterford duked it out withFrontier on Saturday. Waterford snuck past Frontier with a 41-37 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Caldwell put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against River as Caldwell made off with a 54-28 win. With the Redskins ahead 35-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Waterford better keep an eye on Carter Wheeldin. He was instrumental in Caldwell's win, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. Wheeldin's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dylan Schott, who posted 13 points.

Caldwell's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.1 points per game. As for Waterford, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7.

Waterford and Caldwell were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but Waterford came up empty-handed after a 46-45 defeat. Can Waterford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
