Softball Recap: Round Lake Comes Up Short

Round Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 6-0 to the Woodstock Blue Streaks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 13-7 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Piper Berry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Round Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Woodstock, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-18.

While Round Lake had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
