Recap: Community Trojans vs. Fayette Falcons
The Community Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 44-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fayette. Community lost against Fayette in their previous head to head back in January of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-46 score last time.
Kaleb Friebe was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals for Fayette. The matchup was Friebe's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Payton Oeth was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Community has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Fayette, their win bumped their record up to 2-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Community will take on Madison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Madison is ranked 540th, while Community is ranked 537th). Fayette is on the road again on Monday and play against Schuyler County at 7:30 p.m. on January 8th. Schuyler County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Fayette likes a good challenge.
