Softball Game Preview: Hoover Cardinals vs. Lincoln Hornets

Hoover is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will host the Lincoln Hornets at 4:00 p.m. Hoover has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while Lincoln will come in with three straight wins.

Hoover lost 20-1 to Crawford on Wednesday.

Hoover saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Linda Chavez, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Lincoln made easy work of High Tech SD on Wednesday and carried off a 20-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won five contests by 13 runs or more so far this season.

Lincoln's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Hoover, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Hoover might still be hurting after the 16-10 defeat they got from Lincoln when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Cardinals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
