Basketball Game Preview: Apollo Ridge Vikings vs. Summit Academy Knights

The Apollo Ridge Vikings and the Summit Academy Knights will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Thursday, Apollo Ridge might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Steel Valley an easy 56-34 win. The contest marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Summit Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a hard 92-73 fall against Aquinas Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (57), the Knights still had to take the loss.

Apollo Ridge dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Summit Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Apollo Ridge was taken down by Summit Academy 75-23 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Apollo Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
