Basketball Recap: Keir Sheppard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pahrump Valley over Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon

Pahrump Valley lost against Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Pahrump Valley Trojans fell to the Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon Pirate 53-47.

Pahrump Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keir Sheppard, who posted 12 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Those five steals gave Sheppard a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Lozano, who scored 11 points.

Even though they lost, Pahrump Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Damon Ameperosa, who put up 20 points. M.J. Tucker was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Pahrump Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season. As for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9.

Pahrump Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-31 loss against Boulder City on the 6th. As for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, they have also already played their next contest, a 79-8 victory against American Heritage Academy on the 7th.
