Softball Recap: Lee-Scott Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Montgomery Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lee-Scott Academy). They were the clear victors by an 18-5 margin over the Montgomery Academy Eagles on Thursday. Considering the Warriors have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Railey Langford made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Lee-Scott Academy got a massive performance out of Brianna Totty, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5. What's more, Totty posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenzie Johnson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5.

Lee-Scott Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .550. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Lee-Scott Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-9-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Montgomery Academy, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lee-Scott Academy will square off against Dadeville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Montgomery Academy, they will take on Autauga Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Generals will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
