Baseball Game Preview: Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones vs. Quincy Notre Dame Raiders

The Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones will square off against the Quincy Notre Dame Raiders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Sacred Heart-Griffin is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Beardstown as they made off with an 11-1 win. The Cyclones not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29th (when they won 16-1).

Meanwhile, Quincy Notre Dame owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central.

Bradi Lahr made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rowan Stegeman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Logan Woodyard was another key player, earning four stolen bases.

Sacred Heart-Griffin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Quincy Notre Dame, their win bumped their record up to 19-10.
