Fremont is 9-1 against Layton since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Silverwolves will square off against the Lancers at 3:30 p.m. Fremont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Fremont made easy work of Syracuse and carried off a 9-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Silverwolves in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won four in a row.
Adee Johnsen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Johnsen was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Savannah Palmatier, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Brooklyn Himelright also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Fremont hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 14 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Layton came up short against Mountain Ridge on Wednesday, falling 15-5.
Macie Clark made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Megan Child, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.
Layton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season. As for Fremont, their record is now 10-13.
Layton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fremont has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Layton, though, as they've been averaging 10.5 hits. Given Fremont's sizable advantage in that area, the Lancers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Fremont beat Layton 8-4 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Silverwolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
