Preview: Westmont Sentinels vs. Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family
Westmont has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westmont has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 3-0 during that stretch of close contests.
Last Tuesday, Westmont narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Mustangs 49-47. 49 seems to be a good number for Westmont as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Meanwhile, Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They claimed a resounding 64-15 win over Universal at home. Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 33 points or more this season.
Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elizabeth Beto, who dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists. Beto has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alice Hansen, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
The win got Westmont back to even at 13-13. As for Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-10.
Westmont ended up a good deal behind the when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 47-32. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Beto, who dropped a triple-double on 24 points, 15 rebounds, and ten steals.
