Softball Recap: Palmetto Panthers vs. St. Brendan Sabres

If Palmetto was riding high fresh off their 18-3 takedown of South Dade last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Palmetto Panthers lost 20-10 to the St. Brendan Sabres on Wednesday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Sabres recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Rebekah Diener made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Mia Torres also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Palmetto's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for St. Brendan, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Looking ahead, Palmetto will be playing in front of their home fans against Coral Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palmetto has given up an average of 12.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for St. Brendan, they will challenge Westminster Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Westminster Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so St. Brendan's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
