Softball Recap: Laurens Comes Up Short

After flying high against Abbeville last Tuesday, Laurens came back down to earth. The Laurens Raiders fell just short of the Whitmire Wolverines by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

Carly Edwards made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Edwards is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Addison Trevino, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Laurens' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Whitmire, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Coming up, Laurens will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodruff at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurens is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.8 runs per game this season. As for Whitmire, they will head out to square off against Newberry at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
