Softball Recap: Del Norte Extends Winning Streak to Six

Del Norte had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They came out on top against the San Marcos Knights by a score of 4-1. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 6-4 win back in April.

Brooklyn Giaime spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carissa Camaclang was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

Del Norte pushed their record up to 16-8-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for San Marcos, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-13.

Coming up, Del Norte will face off against San Pasqual at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Nighthawks are facing the Golden Eagles at the right time seeing as the Golden Eagles are stuck on a six-game losing streak. San Marcos does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
