Volleyball Recap: Sharon's Run of Six Straight Victories Now Over

It was a good run, but Sharon unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-match winning streak on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Slippery Rock Rockets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in September.

Sharon was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-23, 25-20.

Sharon's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emmalie Yobe, who had 19 assists and seven digs. Yobe is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Dani Currie, who had 15 digs and three assists.

Sharon's loss dropped their record down to 12-5-1. As for Slippery Rock, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 20-4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sharon will host Hickory at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Slippery Rock, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Jamestown at 7:15 p.m.
