Basketball Game Preview: Alexander Spartans vs. Athens Bulldogs

The Alexander Spartans will challenge the Athens Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alexander has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Tuesday, Alexander needed a bit of extra time to put away River Valley. They came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 57-53 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Meanwhile, Athens lost to Meigs at home by a 60-45 margin on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Marauders: they've now lost four in a row.

Alexander's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8. As for Athens, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Alexander beat Athens 42-35 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Does Alexander have another victory up their sleeve, or will Athens turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
