Baseball Recap: Paw Paw Beats Port Huron Northern for Their 11th Straight Win

Paw Paw came tearing into Saturday's game with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Port Huron Northern Huskies 9-1. Nine seems to be a good number for the Red Wolves as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Caden Bowen made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Bowen was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Maverick Johnson was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Gunnar Goodell was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Paw Paw hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matchups.

Paw Paw pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Port Huron Northern, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Paw Paw will square off against Vicksburg at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Port Huron Northern, they will venture away from home to square off against L'Anse Creuse at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
