Basketball Recap: Edisto Takes a Loss

Edisto was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were beaten by the Lake Marion Gators 68-24. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Gators are ranked 75th).

Lake Marion found their leader in sophomore Rayleigh Davis, who posted 19 points and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimyria Green, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

Edisto's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Lake Marion, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 20-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edisto will host Whale Branch at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lake Marion, they will challenge Hampton County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Lake Marion has won nine straight at home dating back to last season, while Hampton County won 11 straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
