Baseball Recap: Lumberton's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

Lumberton was the 1-0 winner over Bridge City when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. Lumberton fell 7-4 to Bridge City on Saturday. The Raiders' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Lumberton saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Talon White, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave White a new career-high. Ryan Verde was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Lumberton's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6-1. As for Bridge City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-2-1 record this season.

Lumberton will square off against Little Cypress-Mauriceville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Little Cypress-Mauriceville will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Lumberton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bridge City, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Bridge City Cardinals challenge Silsbee Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Silsbee's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Bridge City's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
