Baseball Game Preview: Newton Rams vs. Walnut Grove Warriors

The Newton Rams will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Walnut Grove Warriors at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday.

Newton is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They fell just short of Jackson County by a score of 8-7 on Thursday.

Newton saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayce Yearwood, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Yearwood a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Walnut Grove took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Monday. They blew past Monroe Area 11-3. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Purple Hurricanes: they've now won four in a row.
