Basketball Recap: California Military Institute Takes a Loss

California Military Institute was the 41-31 winner over San Jacinto Leadership Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The California Military Institute Rough Riders lost to the San Jacinto Leadership Academy Lions on the road by a 61-46 margin on Friday. The Rough Riders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

San Jacinto Leadership Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ezra Olguin led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Olguin a new career-high in blocks (three). Jake Gagnepain was another key player, putting up 20 points and four steals.

California Military Institute now has a losing record at 10-11. As for San Jacinto Leadership Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. California Military Institute has already played their next match (against Nuview Bridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. San Jacinto Leadership Academy is taking a road trip to square off against Temecula Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
