Volleyball Recap: Jurupa Hills Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Jurupa Hills needed a changed in momentum after dropping five straight matches and they got it from Olivia Castanon. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Fontana Steelers on Thursday with plenty of help from Castanon, who had 15 digs and one assist. She has been hot recently, having posted 14 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Jurupa Hills not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Fontana between 16 and 18 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-16, 25-17.

Jurupa Hills' victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Fontana, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Jurupa Hills will take on Notre Dame in a tournament on Tuesday. As for Fontana, they will be taking part in a tournament against Kaiser at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
