SouthWest Edgecombe came tearing into Tuesday's match with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 69-44 margin over the Greene Central Rams. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Rams are ranked 320th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead SouthWest Edgecombe to victory, but perhaps none more so than A'Chonacey Mabry, who went 9 of 12 en route to 18 points in addition to seven boards and six steals. Mabry is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Kdeidria Collins was another key player, going 6 for 14 on her way to 17 points and four steals.

SouthWest Edgecombe was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greene Central only racked up eight assists.

When it comes to explaining why Greene Central lost, don't look at An'Nysha Wooten. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. That was a full 40.9% of Greene Central's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kharma Schuster, who went 5 of 10 en route to 10 points and five boards.

SouthWest Edgecombe's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.3 points per game. As for Greene Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

SouthWest Edgecombe will face off against West Craven at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Craven will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something SouthWest Edgecombe surely won't give up without a fight. Greene Central has already played their next contest, a 51-41 defeat against North Pitt on the 29th.
