Basketball Recap: Hinkley Takes a Loss

Hinkley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 100-42 loss at the hands of the Regis Groff Fusion. The Thunder lost against the Fusion in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 61-58 score last time.

Hinkley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Malachi Holden, who posted nine points along with six boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Marques Yarbough, who had ten points and seven rebounds.

Javelle Taylor was a one-man wrecking crew for Regis Groff as he went 12 of 20 en route to 29 points in addition to 14 steals and 11 assists. Davonte Robinson was another key player, going 7 for 13 on his way to 21 points along with seven assists and five steals.

Hinkley's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Regis Groff, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Denver North the next time they take the court. Hinkley will head out to face Denver North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Regis Groff will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
